Board of Zoning Appeals Issues Decision: DENIED!

On Thursday, November 18th, The Frederick County Board of Zoning Appeals voted to deny the zoning exception request filed by PATH by a vote of 2-1.  There was an hour of discussion by the board prior to reaching this decision.  Key points made to support the denial of the application included: the substation is not consistent with the spirit and intent of the Frederick County Comprehensive Plan, the proposed substation was not consistent with the look and feel of the surrounding area, and the choice of the particular proposed location had significantly more adverse affects than other agriculture areas within Frederick County.

This represents a significant step forward in our mission to prevent the substation project from moving forward but it certainly is not the last.  We continue to need the support of the entire community both in terms of time as well as financial contributions to support the ongoing costs of legal representation to support hearings of the Maryland Public Service Commission as well as any potential appeals of the zoning hearing.  Thank you for all your support to date.
