Results of October 20th Frederick Planning Commission Meeting

Friday, October 22nd, 2010

The Frederick County Planning Commission held a meeting on the evening of October 20th to review the PATH Transmission Lines and to make a recommendation to the Frederick County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC).  A number of folks turned out for the meeting and gave great testimony.  An interesting item is that Allegheny did not bother to attend this meeting.  As they did with the proposed “Kemptown Substation”, the Planning Commission ruled unanimously that the transmission lines are inconsistent with the Frederick County Comprehensive Plan.   If you’re interested in reading a little more detail about the meeting, see the following link.  It’s a blog entry on the stoppathwv.com website written by one of the folks from West Virginia who attended the meeting.

Frederick County Board of Zoning Appeals Hearing

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

On Wednesday, 9/29/10, the Frederick County Board of Zoning Appeals held their hearing on the proposed substation.  The hearing began at 1:00PM and stopped at approximately 11:30PM.  It was a very, very long day.  Those of you who watched on television, got a feel for what it was like.  The hearing did NOT complete on 9/29/10 and will need to be continued on 10/14/10.  PATH presented 5 out of 7 witnesses who were then cross examined.  They’ve still got 2 more witnesses to present.  Then the opposition groups get to present and then public testimony will be allowed.  This means there will be at least one, and possibly two more hearing meetings.  The next will take place on Thursday, 10/14/10, at 7:00PM.  The hearing will take place in Winchester Hall in Frederick:
12 East Church Street
Frederick, MD 21701
Once again, your attendance is crucial.

Maryland Public Service Commission Pre-Hearing

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

On Tuesday, 9/28/10, the Maryland Public Service Commission held a “Pre-Hearing Conference”.  The biggest results of this were:

·         The Hearing Examiner considers the PATH application for CPCN to be complete and will continue the process of setting up a hearing schedule.  The next step is for the represented groups to hash out a schedule that is acceptable to all.  If the groups aren’t able to do this, the Hearing Examiner will schedule another hearing to resolve this.
·         For each individual who has applied to be an Intervener, a determination was made as to whether or not they were granted “Party Status” (i.e. they can be an Intervener) or “Interested Person Status” (which means they are not an Intervener).  This list will be distributed when available.
